The New Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid

Introducing the All-New Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid: Power Meets Efficiency

The iconic Ford Ranger is stepping into a new era with the unveiling of the all-new Ranger Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), combining Ford’s legendary off-road capability with cutting-edge electrification. Revealed at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, Germany, this latest innovation solidifies the Ranger's position as Europe’s best-selling pickup while enhancing its appeal to modern drivers with eco-conscious, practical solutions. Deliveries are expected to begin in spring 2025, making this a game-changer for work, adventure, and everything in between.

Power and Performance, Redefined

At the heart of the Ford Ranger PHEV is an all-new powertrain delivering an impressive 690Nm of torque, the highest ever for a production Ranger. This immense power is supported by a 279PS output, surpassing even the diesel-powered Ranger’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel. The hybrid combines a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a 75kW electric motor and 11.8kWh battery. Drivers will enjoy an electric-only range of over 27 miles, ideal for short commutes or city driving, with a full charge achievable in under four hours using a 16-amp single-phase charger.

The advanced Modular Hybrid Transmission system integrates the electric motor seamlessly, enabling drivers to choose between Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later, and EV Charge modes for full control over their driving experience. Regenerative braking technology and the added torque from the e-motor further enhance performance, particularly when towing, carrying heavy loads, or navigating tough terrain.

No-Compromise Off-Road Capability

True to its roots, the Ranger PHEV retains the rugged performance that has made the model a favourite among off-road enthusiasts and workers alike. Its electric 4WD system, dual-range transfer box, and rear differential lock ensure it’s as capable off-road as its diesel and petrol counterparts. With a payload of up to one tonne and a towing capacity of 3,500kg, the Ranger PHEV is more than ready to tackle demanding jobs, all while delivering an efficient and quieter drive.

The Ranger’s famous durability is maintained with the traction battery safely housed between specially engineered frame rails, ensuring its legendary approach, breakover, and departure angles remain intact. Ford’s engineers have also revised the suspension tuning, taking the unique chassis and weight distribution of the PHEV into account for optimum comfort and stability.

Power On-The-Go with Pro Power Onboard

A standout feature of the Ranger PHEV is Ford’s Pro Power Onboard, allowing users to harness the power of their vehicle to fuel tools or equipment while off the grid. Whether it’s powering heavy-duty tools on a job site or running a fridge and lighting on a weekend camping trip, the Ranger PHEV can do it all. The system offers a standard 2.3kW output, with an option to upgrade to 6.9kW for more demanding applications.

This feature further cements the Ranger PHEV as a vehicle for both work and leisure, giving drivers the flexibility to power tools, appliances, and equipment without the need for a generator.

Exclusive Stormtrak Launch Edition

Marking the global debut of the Ranger PHEV is the limited-run Stormtrak launch edition. Designed to capture attention, the Stormtrak comes with unique styling features, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a honeycomb grille, fender vents, and striking decals. Available in an exclusive Chill Grey or Agate Black paint, the Stormtrak also boasts premium features such as Matrix LED headlamps, a 360-degree camera, Ford’s Flexible Rack System, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist to make towing easier than ever.

Inside, the luxury continues with a 10-speaker B&O sound system, a host of advanced tech features, and specially designed interior finishes, providing a premium experience both behind the wheel and in the cabin.

A New Era for the Ford Ranger

The introduction of the Ranger Plug-In Hybrid marks a pivotal moment for Ford and its customers. Offering all the hard-working performance expected from a Ranger, combined with the benefits of electrification, the PHEV expands Ford’s lineup of hybrid and electric vehicles for the European market. With more than 200,000 Rangers sold in the UK since 1998 and a dominant 55% market share in 2024 to date, the Ranger continues to solidify its place as the UK’s favourite pickup.

For businesses and individuals alike, the new Ranger PHEV provides the perfect blend of performance, efficiency, and practicality, offering emission-free driving in urban areas and unparalleled power when it’s needed most. Ford’s innovative Pro Power Onboard system, advanced hybrid technology, and luxurious Stormtrak edition make the Ranger Plug-In Hybrid a pickup for the future.

Whether it’s work, adventure, or everyday driving, the all-new Ford Ranger PHEV is ready to lead the charge.
